Privacy Policy
SHAMBALA GALACTIC PRIVATE LIMITED makes Venelia, a daily prayer for peace with people around the world. This policy says what the app collects, why, how long it's kept, and how to have it deleted. If anything here is unclear, write to talktous@venelia.app.
If you pray as a guest
You don't need an account to pray. When you open the app, it creates an anonymous account ID so the app can work. It holds no name, no email and no other detail about you. Guests can read the Community but can't use the chat or post.
If you create an account
- With Google: your email address and your Google account ID. Our sign-in service also receives the name and profile picture Google provides. The Community shows your first name only; the picture is never shown.
- With email: your email address and a password. The password is stored by our sign-in service in a form no one can read, including us.
- Your age: accounts are for people aged 16 and over. You enter your date of birth: before an email account is created, and right after a new Google sign-in, before the account is kept. The app checks it on your phone and never stores it or sends it anywhere. It keeps only a note, on your phone, that the check was passed. If the check is not passed, the new account is removed and you stay a guest.
Chat
Each session has a chat. A message you send is stored with your account ID and the time it was sent, so it can be shown to the others in the room. No name is shown. Every message in a room is deleted when the session closes, 15 minutes after the prayer begins.
The Community
- Posts and comments you write are stored with your account ID, your first name, the category and the time, and are shown to everyone who opens the Community. If your account has no name, "A Venelia member" is shown. They stay until you delete them, a moderator removes them, or you delete your data.
- Upvotes and bookmarks are stored with your account ID.
- Every post and comment is checked on our server against a list of blocked words.
- If a post or comment mentions self-harm, a gentle support line is shown under it, to everyone, and it is placed first in our daily review. Nothing is blocked or removed for this. The words that matched are never recorded, and the mark is removed with the post.
Reports and safety
- When someone reports a chat message, a post or a comment, we keep a copy of its text, the account that wrote it, the account that reported it, the reason given and the time. The copy is kept for safety review. [Retention: until the attorney confirms.]
- A report given for child safety also records the report and the account reported, for our moderators. That record is kept for safety review. [Retention: until the attorney confirms.]
- If you block someone, the app keeps your list of blocked accounts. If a moderator removes someone's access to chat and posting, the app keeps that record for safety review. [Retention: until the attorney confirms.]
Your settings, if you have an account
Your prayer languages and your reminder choices are saved to your account, so they follow you to another phone. Guests' settings stay on the phone.
Prayers offered
When you are in a session during the prayer, the app counts one prayer for that session in a single worldwide total. The record of which account prayed is deleted when the session closes.
Diagnostics
The app sends crash reports, and records which screens are opened and when someone joins a session, stays to the end, sends a chat message or sends an invite, using Google Firebase's crash reporting and analytics. These are tied to an ID for this installation of the app, not to your name or email, and are used only as totals by our team. The app doesn't use the advertising ID and shows no ads.
Kept only on your phone
Your app language and look, the mood you choose on opening the app, a copy of the schedule for when you're offline, the home-screen widget's text, the prayer recordings and music, and the note that the age check was passed. These never leave your phone. Reminders are scheduled on the phone itself. The first time you choose a mood, the app downloads that mood's music from our storage; the request names the music file, and nothing about your choice is stored by us. The app turns off Android's automatic backup, so none of this is copied to Google Drive.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. The app doesn't use your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone. There are no profiles, followers or private messages.
Where your data is kept
The app runs on Google Firebase. Accounts, chat, the Community and reports are stored in Google's data centre in Singapore. Google processes crash reports and analytics for us as our service provider. We don't share your data with anyone else.
When you delete your account
Go to Settings, then Delete my data, or ask on our web page at https://venelia.app/delete-account. We act on the request within 24 hours.
- Your account is deleted, along with the data held under it: your settings, and every post, comment, upvote and bookmark you wrote.
- Your account ID is removed from any report you made. The report itself stays, without your name on it.
- Reports about what you wrote stay, with the copy of the text, for safety review.
- A child-safety record or a removal of access naming your account also stays, for safety review. [Retention: until the attorney confirms.]
- We keep only your sign-up details (your account ID, how you signed in, your email address if you gave one, and when the account was created and deleted) for 180 days, then remove them. [Retention: until the attorney confirms.]
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with its date, and the app tells you about any change to what it collects.
